About me and my therapy practice

Hello. I am counsellor and physiotherapist working both online and face to face. I offer counselling specialising in anxiety, stress/burnout and bereavement and loss. I also have expertise in helping people with issues related to health and illness, specifically chronic pain and chronic fatigue.

Are you finding you anxiety overwhelming? Is your stress impacting on you life?

Are you living with chronic pain or a long term health condition? Have you been given a new diagnosis? Are you recovering from illness or surgery?

I know that these experiences can feel overwhelming, confusing and scary. It is not unusual to feel a sense of loss or anxiety about the future. It can be a lonely place and you may feel unseen and misunderstood. All of this can affect your relationships, work and life choices.

I have been alongside people throughout their health journeys and understand the highs and lows. Together we can start to make sense of it all in a safe environment and find a way for you to live well despite the health challenges you may have.

I am interested in helping you make sense of your health in a way that honours all part of your experience - emotional, relational and physical.

As a previous NHS worker, I am also able to understand and work with individuals in the helping professions who may have experienced stress, burn out and vicarious trauma.

Practice description

As a Pluralistic counsellor, I will collaborate with you about what you need from counselling and work with your preferences. We are all different and one size does not fit all.

I have a keen interest in helping people with their health holistically in a way that considers your experiences, your emotions and your body. I am interested in helping you make sense of your health in a way that honours all part of your experience - emotional, relational and physical.

Please see my website for more details of my approach.

Having unique knowledge and experience that is both medical and therapeutic I am ideally placed to meet your needs. I worked with people with long term and life limiting health conditions in the NHS for 25 years specialising in neurology, persistent pain and frailty and more latterly as a counsellor for a cancer charity.

I can provide counselling and physiotherapy either individually or as an integrated approach to help you explore, understand and ultimately benefit your emotional and physical wellbeing.

I have a PG (Dip) in Pluralistic Counselling and a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.

My continued commitment to my development in helping people with their health concerns has gained me the following training:

-Certificate in Bereavement and loss Counselling.

-6 week mindfulness for stress training and 6 weeks mindfulness for health training.

-I have trained in both the SIRPA approach, Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy and Pain Reprocessing Therapy to helping people with chronic pain. I am currently participating in training with the Psychophysiological disorders association.

-I am a Capacitar practitioner.

-I work in a trauma informed way.

I offer a free 20 minute telephone call to chat over what you are looking for from your counselling and answer any questions you may have about this.
