About me and my therapy practice

Short-Term Student Counselling :-

Being a student can put pressure on anyone. You're learning to be an independent adult. It could be your first time living away from home. Or you might still live at home, which has its issues too. You have to deal with the pressure of your course, and maybe your parents' expectations too. Any of these can get to you. No wonder so many students get stressed or anxious, or have issues with self-confidence, keeping on top of work, managing relationships, boyfriend/girlfriend issues, issues with parents, body image or food issues, and lots more.

Counselling can help. Think of it as gym for your head. With a personal trainer, of course. It helps get your head straight. Strengthens your mind. Talking through your stuff with a professional means you can open up about anything and everything without worrying about being judged.

STS Counselling is confidential. Nobody else needs to know, not your college or uni, not your parents, not anyone. You get help to deal with whatever pressures and anxieties you have, get things back on track, make the most of student life, and plan for the future that works for you.

Whatever is getting to you, don't let it get on top. Just one, single session of professional counselling can help. The advantage of short term counselling is that it is focussed on your immediate needs, with no commitment to keep coming back for more sessions than you need.

Practice description

To start the session, at whatever time you book, I will call you on your mobile, or with Whatsapp, or send you an invitation to join me on Zoom, depending on which of chat you choose. Then we have fifty minutes to talk about whatever. That is the normal amount of time for any counselling session, because that is about as long as most people want to talk, and it gives counsellors a ten minute break for a coffee or whatever between the sessions they have have that day.

You can tell me what you want to, whatever it is that you feel is getting to you. I don't criticise. I don't get shocked. My job is to help you work out what is going on inside your head, or between you and other people, and to help you deal with it.

I will probably ask you questions. They may go deep. What seems straightforward sometimes disguises uncomfortable underlying issues that could be worth exploring.

I don't tell you what to do. I may make suggestions. Offer some advice. I may explore your options with you. But ultimately, you decide who and how you want to be. It is your life to live your way.

My first session

Your first session might be your only session, if that is all you want or need. It will be a get to know you session, but even a first session can go deep. There will be no forms to complete in advance, just some safeguarding introductory questions when we talk.

If you decide you want another session, all you have to do is book. We will pick up from where we left off before. As simple as that.

Every session you decide to book is at the same student rate of £30.00, with no commitment at any time.
