About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative Counsellor working in the Newton Abbot area of South Devon.  I have a background in art, dance, social work (adult health care) and massage. This, alongside my personal life experience, informs my practice.

My approach acknowledges and values the therapeutic relationship.   I aim to create a safe space for exploration and self discovery, which in turn facilitates a fertile climate for growth and  change. As an Integrative Counsellor, I weave together different approaches, exploring the interconnectivity of body and mind, the conscious and unconscious. I have found that creative and dynamic exercises, using metaphor and imagery, line, paper, found objects and clay, can be effective in bring the unknown forward into the known.

I work from a studio in my garden.

Practice description

People come to me with uncertainty, scattered emotions and confusion.  My practice offers the opportunity to explore these experiences in an immersive and transformative journey of self discovery.

I work in Private Practice.  Although I work generically with adults, I have a particular interest and experience in working with loss and bereavement, older people, health and disability.  My background in Social Work informs and has inspired my practice with older people, people with dementia and carers.

I have also been a volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Care for a number of years.

My first session

Finding the right counsellor can seem like a challenging task. In order to help you do this, I offer a short complementary, no obligation, introductory session.  In this session you will be able to discuss your hopes, expectations of counselling and whether me and my practice are right for you. We will also discuss costs, timings and the counselling contract.

Our first session, should you decide to work with me, will continue that discussion and will also further explore the counselling contract: terms and conditions, confidentiality, data protection.   The first session is about beginning the development of the therapeutic working relationship.

I hope that you find the right counsellor for you.  That could be me!
