About me and my therapy practice

Are you or someone you love struggling with difficult relationships with food? Perhaps binge eating or bulimia is affecting daily life, and you're unsure where to turn for support. It can be an incredibly isolating and confusing time, with emotions often feeling intense or overwhelming.

As a therapist with personal experience of recovering from disordered eating, I understand how challenging and complex this journey can be. I specialise in supporting both teenagers and adults who are grappling with binge eating, bulimia, and the difficult emotions that accompany these issues. My aim is to create a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore, understand, and work through these challenges with compassion and effective strategies.

My integrative approach blends therapeutic and coaching techniques, including mindfulness, breathing practices and reflective exercises, to help you learn how to self-regulate and build a more peaceful relationship with food and your body. Together, we can explore what might be driving these patterns and gradually find ways to feel more empowered and in control.

Practice description

What to Expect in Our Sessions

In our sessions, we'll move at a pace that feels right for you. For both teenagers and adults, this may involve a mix of talking, reflective exercises, and practical tips to help reduce binge eating and bulimia behaviours.

Some people find mindfulness and breathing techniques helpful to develop greater self-awareness and emotional regulation. By combining therapeutic techniques with practical coaching tools, we work collaboratively to support and guide you or your teenager towards lasting change and a more peaceful relationship with yourself.

About Me

Since 2018, I have been dedicated to providing counselling and mental health mentoring to adults and teenagers in private practice. With more than a decade of experience working in schools and universities and with my own journey of recovery from disordered eating, I bring a deep, personal understanding to my work. I have recently trained as a supervisor, which allows me to support other therapists while continually expanding my knowledge in the field of eating issues and mental health.

In my spare time, I enjoy practising yoga and meditation, which I also teach. Staying current on therapy research is a priority for me, and I frequently update my practice based on the latest insights. My background includes an MSc in Psychology, and my research has been presented at national conferences and referenced in professional publications. I have completed specialist training in eating disorders at the National Centre for Eating Disorders.

About me and my therapy practice

Are you worried about your young person and unsure what will help? Perhaps you’d love to find someone experienced who can connect with and guide your teenager through this difficult moment.

I have been supporting young people in my private practice since 2018 and have more than a decade of experience working in schools and universities. I help teenagers experiencing stress, anxiety, sadness and other overwhelming feelings feel better, more empowered and confident within themselves.

In sessions I offer talking therapy, creative therapy (art and games), mindfulness (breathing exercises) and practical coping strategies. Using an integrative approach means we can tailor the approach to young people’s individual needs and makes therapy more approachable.

In my spare time I enjoy running, cooking and I also teach yoga classes to adults and young people.

Sessions are online using Zoom.

Practice description

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ

I usually suggest meeting a couple of times for young people to get a feel for therapy and make the choice to carry on if they would like to. It's really important that they feel in control of this process. We spend some time gently exploring what they would like some help with and I support them to think about what they want to get out of coming to therapy.

Together, we create a safe space to think about feelings through talking, getting creative or playing games, working on practical coping skills or practising mindfulness. This tends to be an empowering process for them as they take the lead on their own healing journey.

I believe in research-based interventions and keep up-to-date on new therapy insights. I have a background in MSc Psychology adolescent research and have had my research referenced in a publication. I was fortunate enough to be asked to present my findings at a national conference and have also led mental health training workshops for professionals.

Testimonials:

"Thanks so much. It's great to see my daughter so happy and with her head straight. What an amazing difference. Thanks so much for your help. She's really enjoyed her time with you and really valued it. Great to know you're there for the future too - thanks again." (Parent)

"I’m just feeling much more aware of everything - like everything is just a lot calmer. There’s just less drama going on - at school and with my friends. Things feel easier." (Young Person)

"My son has loved his time with you, you have really helped. Thank you so much you have helped him so much I can’t thank you enough and if he ever needs to speak again we will be back." (Parent)

"I’m feeling much better. These sessions have been really helpful. Now I know I have choices and can make the right one for me." (Young Person)
