About me and my therapy practice

How I can help

I am an experienced counsellor, and work online and face to face.

Maybe you are feeling stressed and anxious, or are finding life difficult and feel overwhelmed and sad.

Sometimes everyone you know can seem too busy, too close, or too far away. It is hard to ask for help and although it takes courage, sharing your difficulties with someone completely outside your life can bring relief. You find new ways of coping so that you feel more at peace and comfortable in your own skin.

Occasionally, life can throw a curveball and hit you with unexpected change or loss which leaves you feeling anxious or depressed.  It can help to talk through what happened to you and explore your life from a different non-judgemental perspective. Sometimes, it can help to look back and see how what happened is affecting you and your relationships today.

My qualifications and experience

- Over ten years experience

- Qualified to work with adults and young people 14+  including enhanced DBS

- Work with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, as well as low self esteem, confidence, and grief or loss of any kind. 

- Particular interest in family issues, migration, bereavement and other significant changes or milestones in life. 

- French and German speaker - I worked and studied abroad and enjoy working with a diverse client group.

- Experience in working with NHS staff and carers

Sessions are tailored to your needs..

The way I work is underpinned by person centred theory, so the session is tailored to your needs, offering a non-judgemental, empathic space for you to share your distress alongside someone who can help make sense of these feelings and help you access your own resilience and coping strategies.

 I discuss and integrate other approaches such as solution focussed therapy, CBT or creative techniques where appropriate.

For family issues, I am also trained to think systemically with you about your family dynamics, history and relationships.

I am a qualified Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Accredited Counsellor which means I have been assessed as working ethically and safely.  

I have several years counselling experience working in the NHS, in universities and schools and for specialist bereavement agencies. 

Counselling online or by telephone

I am working with clients face to face and online using Zoom, FaceTime according to their preference as I have experience and training in working this way. 

In the beginning, we would arrange a regular mutually convenient time and agree to meet, or go online at that time. I ensure that the session is private and confidential at my end. 

If the online technology isn't working very well, we can revert to working by telephone which for some clients provides a bit more privacy and focus, as they can also leave the house to make the call while walking or sitting in the car.

A quiet private garden room..

Face to face sessions take place in my counselling room which is a quiet garden room within walking distance of the centre of Guildford. There is free parking available and it is easily accessed by the surrounding areas such as Woking, Godalming, Farncombe and Farnham via the A3, A31, and A3100 and within walking distance of the train and bus stations.

My first session

The first session is a chance to experience how I work and see whether this is likely to meet your needs. There is no obligation to continue. 

Whether face to face or online, we would agree a mutually convenient time to contact each other. You might like to consider whether you would prefer to work with me online using FaceTime or Zoom or face to face. Whatever you choose it is important to feel you have a confidential space, and you feel comfortable.

Payment can be made online in advance and block bookings can be made if more convenient.
