About me and my therapy practice

Hello I'm Della.  Loss, grief, low self-esteem, trauma and change are the background to a lot of peoples' struggles.  Working through your feelings and helping you to move forward in life, is perhaps the starting point of our sessions.  The direction of the work we do together is very much determined by you.  Our ability to build a strong relationship, based on mutual respect, trust, commitment and confidentiality will allow you to express and talk about the real core of your experiences and expectations.  An element of humour helps too.

We all experience difficult feelings and events throughout life, not many of us however prioritise ourselves when it comes to our mental health and well-being.  I'm guessing you have decided today is the day to change that.  Depression, anxiety, bereavement and relationship issues can have a devastating impact and abuse can be experienced in many forms.   Self-harm is possibly the most common form of abuse that goes unrecognised.

I offer individual counselling for adults 18 and above, couples counselling and family sessions.  I'm an integrative counsellor, trained in psychodynamic counselling, CBT and solution-focused methods and person-centred counselling.  Please see my 'about me' page on my website for further information.

I hope this brief introduction has given you a sense of what counselling with myself may be like.  Do please contact me via your preferred method and let's start our connection going.  Today is the day.

Practice description

I try to accommodate clients availability wherever possible and I offer daytime and evening sessions.  An average amount of sessions is between 6 to 12, however I don't stipulate a minimum amount of sessions and you determine when you want to bring the counselling to an end.

We agree in writing a way in which we will work together, which includes payment terms, cancellation policy, privacy policy and confidentiality statement.

My first session

My counselling is evidence-based and I run through two brief questionnaires at the beginning and end of the sessions.  These help to determine movement.

So that you can ask any questions and get a feel as to whether you feel I will be a good match for you, I offer a free telephone call by arrangement prior to booking.
