Availability
I am sorry that I don’t have any current availability for new clients and don’t expect to have any space until February 2025. If you are interested in joining my waiting list I would still be very happy to receive an enquiry.
I offer face to face appointments on Thursdays in Barnsley (typically between 10am-2pm). I also offer evening appointments with more flexibility on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
About me and my therapy practice
I strongly believe we all have the capacity for healing, but sometimes this can be really hard; this is where counselling can help you to reconnect with what is most important to you, and to find your own sense of well-being. I offer warmth, compassion and a non-judgemental confidential space to explore what you need, helping you to achieve a greater understanding of self and work towards any personal goals you might have.
I would describe my therapeutic approach as humanistic, with a background in Person Centred Therapy and Transactional Analysis. I am also trauma informed and I believe that working with the body is very important in healing, so I also offer somatic practices, for example to help stabilise and calm the nervous system. This can apply whether you have experienced trauma or not; I work with a wide range of clients and have been working as a qualified counsellor since 2017, so I have a depth of experience.
My background in Transactional Analysis means I have a strong interest in how relationships, past experiences and upbringing can affect our sense of self and our current relationships. I also find working on early attachments and ‘parts’ of self can be really beneficial in deepening understanding and resolving things that we struggle with, that might be embedded in our childhood or core beliefs.
I have level 1 training in Lifespan Integration, this is classed as a neurological therapy, different to traditional talking therapy, this can be really useful as an alternative way to process single event traumas or to use to build a stronger and more integrated sense of self.
Please get in touch to discuss further anything you might need to know about my practice, to help you decide if I am the right therapist for you.
Practice description
My private practice is part time so I am afraid my hours are relatively limited. I offer face to face appointments in Barnsley (Hoyland Common) on Thursdays, and I also offer evening online appointments on Wednesdays and Thursdays. These appointments are usually weekly, but I can sometimes accommodate fortnightly appointments; please get in touch if you wish to discuss availability and frequency of sessions.
Each appointment costs £45 for 50 minutes (online or face to face). I am sorry that I do not offer telephone counselling. For my online sessions I use a secure platform called Whereby, you don't need to download anything to use it, but you will need access to good Wi-fi or data so we can see and hear each other clearly.
I offer a £5 discount per session for low incomes, students and trainees. However please note that these places are limited, so once full I am unable to offer additional concessionary places.
My first session
I offer an initial telephone consultation which lasts usually around 15-20 minutes minutes before we book in the first session. This is for you to find out the answers to any questions you might have and so we can see if we are suited to work together. I might ask a little about your reasons for accessing therapy and what your hopes for the sessions are, so I can get a sense of what you are needing from the sessions. The relationship between us is an important part of the therapy, so it is important we have this initial call to check that you feel comfortable with me, and that I am the right therapist for you.
