About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist with 20 years of practice. I originally trained in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Oxford, and have since added several trainings over the years, including training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Rogerian Therapy (Person Centred), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Group Therapy (CFT) and Trauma Informed therapy practices. I take an integrative approach to therapy which I tailor to my different clients needs.
I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgmental space in which you can feel safe to explore your issues.
My background is in adult Mental Health. I worked in the NHS for 12 years in Secondary Care, including in a Counselling and Psychotherapy Service, in a Psychotherapy Outpatients department and in a Complex Needs Service. I also have over 10 years of experience working with UK and International students in a London University and in private practice in Harley Street.
I like to work in a holistic way, recognizing clients in mind, body and soul. I invite my clients to develop their inner witness so that they can see the different aspects of themselves and their difficulties with compassion. When we approach ourselves in this way we are more able to reconnect with our true selves and heal.
I am also trained in energy healing and Kundalini yoga for those who are energy sensitive or on a spiritual path and feel that they would benefit from this kind of support.
Practice description
Sessions are usually weekly on the same day and time, or fortnightly, and last for 50 minutes.
All sessions are currently online on Zoom, although in person sessions may be possible in the Maidenhead or Chalfont Saint Peter (South Bucks) area on request.
Both short and long term therapy is available. Short term may mean 4 - 6 sessions, longer term may mean a year or more. The length of therapy is decided together depending on what feels most helpful.
My first session
If you were interested to find out more then your first step would be to contact me by email or phone and leave a brief message and your contact details. We could then arrange a time to speak.
Most clients find it beneficial to have an initial phone call for 20 minutes where we can speak and see if the way I work would be helpful to you, to ask any initial questions and to check other practical issues such as that we have mutual availability of time. The initial phone call in optional and free of charge.
If we both felt that counselling with me would be helpful and if it is something that you would like to do then we would arrange a day/time to meet online on Zoom for an initial 50 minute session. In this session we would go through in more detail the issues that are concerning you and start to form a plan together for a way forward that would feel helpful, and then take the therapy from there.
