About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified, experienced counsellor, and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ).
I offer a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space in which you can explore whatever brings you to counselling.
It could be that there have been things that have troubled you for some time and which you now feel ready to think about in more depth. Maybe recent events have caused you to feel like you need some help to cope. Or perhaps you just don’t feel right and would like some space to explore why that may be.
Talking with a skilled, impartial counsellor can help you find the words to make sense of your experiences and to better understand yourself. Taking time to think about what's going on will help you to find a way forward.
About me
I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from The Counselling Centre in Tunbridge Wells, where I continue to work as a senior counsellor. I also have experience working within the NHS in pre and postnatal mental health, and as part of the counselling team at West Kent Mind.
I have worked with people across a variety of areas including anxiety, depression, relationship breakdown, bereavement, trauma and abuse. I also specialise in working during pregnancy, following childbirth and into early parenthood.
I take my commitment to ensuring the quality and development of my practice very seriously and undertake regular further training. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, whose ethical framework I adhere to.
Practice description
I am trained in the psychodynamic model of counselling, an approach rooted in consideration of the whole person. During the course of our work together, we might think about your early life as well as how significant experiences have impacted you. We may also be curious about how the unconscious parts of you affect the way you feel, think and behave.
You are free to bring and discuss whatever you feel is most important week by week. I place an emphasis on ensuring our sessions are a safe space in which the unsayable can be said, heard and thought about, free of shame or judgement.
Without giving you advice or telling you what to do, I work to support you to find the answers that are right for you, and to strengthen your own resilience both during our work together and into the future.
My first session
I understand that making the decision to start counselling can feel like a big step, and it's important you feel comfortable with whoever you decide to work with.
Following a brief telephone conversation or email exchange, we will arrange to meet for an initial consultation where we can discuss what brings you to counselling. We'll think about how it might help you and whether open-ended or a brief series of sessions would be most beneficial. This is also an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work.
There is no obligation to proceed beyond this point, but if we agree to ongoing sessions, we will meet weekly, on the same day and at the same time. Each session lasts 50 minutes and my fee is £50 per session.
My comfortable practice room is located a short walk from Tunbridge Wells station. There is also plenty of on and off-street parking nearby. If you have recently become a parent, you are welcome to bring your baby to sessions if you wish.
As well as face-to-face work, I also offer sessions by telephone or Zoom.
I aim to respond to all enquiries within one working day. If you have not heard from me having made an enquiry, please do check your email spam folder, or feel free to text or call me on 07765 735901.
