About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank you for visiting my profile.

I have gained a level 7 postgraduate diploma in therapeutic counselling (CBT pathway) on a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ accredited course.  I have been  accredited since 2016, as well as registered, with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ.  I am also an Associate Member/Graduate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.  I graduated with postgraduate qualifications in law and a degree in English literature and believe that reading widely enhances empathy and that writing can be therapeutic.  To ensure continuous development I attend numerous workshops to keep my skills wide and updated.  I have attended additional courses to learn about mindfulness, compassion focused therapy, schema therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, EMDR, psychology and topics such as sleep problems, financial hardship, climate change, perfectionism, equality, diversity, resilience, shame, pain management, attachment and grief.

I have many years of experience working with a variety of organisations and diverse clients.  My legal and personnel experience has nurtured my interest in occupational problems and made me acutely aware of the importance of confidentiality.

I attend regular clinical supervision and am registered with the ICO and the DBS updating service.  I have worked for individuals, the NHS/GPs, private health providers, organisations and charities that help people (with, for example, literacy skills, visual impairment and mental health problems).

Practice description

I currently only work online using Teams (I and clients need to be located in the UK during appointments).

I usually use CBT as my main model as cognitive behavioural therapy is research and evidence-based and recommended by NICE especially for anxiety in its many forms (for example panic) and depression.  I believe that the CBT approach provides a safe framework from which to explore individual problems.  I employ techniques and tools from CBT such as writing thought records and recommending reading materials and talks.

My first session

I charge an equal fee for all new clients and each appointment.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like to book an initial session or need further details.  I would send more information to you by email before the first appointment.

I would ask all clients to read and consent to our counselling/therapy agreement before starting sessions.
