About me and my therapy practice

I endeavor to provide a safe, comfortable, quiet space for clients to explore sensitive issues. The relationship between myself and the client is at the heart of my approach. I believe that being with a client and offering a compassionate holding presence while they share their story is essential to establish a working therapeutic alliance therapeutic alliance before offering insight and psycho education. I adapt my work to suit the needs of each client and integrate suitable interventions and tools to work with whatever the client is presenting.

I have a vast experience of working effectively with addictions and supporting effected others. My experience coupled with extensive research led me to the self-medicating hypothesis which inspired me to specialize in adverse childhood experiences, lifetime trauma, PTSD and attachment. I help clients process trauma, work with the symptoms and become aware of how their lives and behaviours can be controlled or affected by the non conscious and subpersonalities. I am also very experienced in group facilitation,  interpersonal psychotherapy and supervision of therapists (Therapists please see supervision section).

My fees are; £50 per hour, £70 per 90 minute couples session. £85 per 90 minute group facilitation (inc. group supervision). Supervision of therapists £50 per hour.

About me and my therapy practice

• The purpose of ‘counselling-supervision’ is to give you consultative support to maximise the constructive and healthy nature of your counselling relationships in addition to attending to your wellbeing by providing you with your own constructive resource that also breaks down the isolation of the counsellor role.

• We will have a contractually negotiated relationship to support, evaluate and develop your professional practice

• If you are a student, I will only use the same theoretical orientation you are training in until you gain experience.

• I will help you with any ethical dilemmas that arise in your practice, draw your attention to any ethical issues or standards of practice that may be overlooked and help raise your ethical awareness.

• I will help you to identify and process the vicarious trauma which helping professionals experience in their daily working lives and give support and guidance to prevent burnout and attend to your emotional wellbeing.

• I will have an empathic and compassionate understanding of the considerable demands counselling places upon you and will endeavour to help you should you become over-involved, confused as to what is happening with a particular client or have undermining doubts about your own usefulness.

• While working with the distress and difficulties of others you may seek to avoid areas that are painful to yourself which could frustrate any healing for your client. I aim to provide a safe, supporting, collaborative relationship free of evaluations to enable you stay open to yourself and your clients.
