About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Clearview Counselling - Helping you gain a clearer view on life!
I am a Cardiff-based therapist offering both short and long-term Integrative Person-Centred counselling to individual adults age 18+. I work remotely throughout the UK via online video (Zoom, WhatsApp or Signal) or via telephone depending on your personal preference.
As well as having had my own private practice since 2009, I have many years experience of working in various mental health charities, and as well as seeing private clients I additionally carry out counselling for Employee Assistance Programmes which offer counselling to employees working in various settings from small charities to local government, the civil service, and large private corporations.
As an LGBTQIA+ affirming & identifying counsellor I happily work with people of ALL genders, sexual identities, and relationships. As a neurodivergent identifying & affirming therapist, I additionally happily work with those with diverse neurologies including autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, dyscalculia etc.
As a white therapist I firmly commit to challenging racial bias in counselling, to continually learning about issues faced by POC/BAME people, recognising my own white privilege, and aiming to promote anti-racism and challenge racism and antisemitism in my work & personal life.
Practice description
I am a friendly, open and positive person, and aim to help you explore your way forward and achieve what you need from therapy in a constructive, dynamic, and compassionate way.
I work using an 'Integrative' approach, which means that I draw from different forms of talking therapy to suit your needs, including Person-Centred therapy, Humanistic-Existential therapy, Long-Term therapy, short-term therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I work in a trauma-informed way and recognise your strengths and how to build upon them.
Counselling can be long or short-term depending on your needs, and at a frequency to suit you. I recognise that whilst weekly therapy is often thought of as the 'ideal', for many people this can't take place due to financial, work or personal reasons, therefore I try to be as flexible as I can.
My first session
Prior to the first session I will send you a confidential Client Questionnaire which I use as part of my counselling assessment to make sure counselling with me will be right for you, along with my Counselling Contract and Terms and Conditions for you to sign.
In our first session we will go through these, and it is your opportunity to tell me about the issues you're facing and what you hope to gain from therapy. If you would like to then you are then welcome to book in for further sessions, though there is no obligation to do so. You are always in control of your therapy and you will never be tied into having a certain number of sessions. Please note that first sessions are chargeable at the normal session fee, and that I have a 48 hour cancellation policy whereby a booked session is chargeable at the full session fee unless I receive at least 48 hours' notice.
