About me and my therapy practice
If you are suffering with anxiety, depression, grief, anger or feel tearful, it impacts your daily life.
Mental Health encompasses our emotional, psychological and social well-being, impacting how you act, feel and react, as well as the life choices you make.
Seeking advice is a big step and it can be helpful to have someone beside you on your journey. My goal as a Counsellor is to provide a safe, compassionate environment to help you navigate lifes challenges.
Working together I can help you develop a greater understanding of your thoughts and feelings and explore how you can move forward in life. Life can feel overwhelming when we are struggling to cope and there are times when we need someone who will listen, feel safe and is non-judgemental.
We don't always understand why we feel like we do, sometimes there's an obvious trigger. Through talking and reflection, we can help you unravel complex emotions, understand recurring patterns, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Understanding feelings can help develop a sense of calm and greater control over our lives.
I work with a genuineness and sensitivity which may enable a deeper understanding of yourself, and an increased sense of self-acceptance.
I work with Adults, Couples and Adolescents and can offer long term/open ended counselling.
I am a BUPA authorised therapist.
Practice description
I am an experienced psychodynamically trained accredited counsellor.
Psychodynamic counselling helps gain an understanding of deep rooted feelings and struggles, bringing the unconscious mind into the conscious in order to resolve issues. When our mind struggles to process feelings, memories and experiences, defences are used to protect ourselves. By exploring and understanding these defences it can help us make changes and process unresolved problems.
As well as running my private practice I have experience within voluntary agencies, associate work at Stort psychotherapy practice, voluntary secondary school counsellor as well as working as an assistant school project manager.
I have 10 years experience working in the NHS, in Psychiatry, Rehabilitation and Neurology.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychodynamic counsellor, working with couples.
Relationships form a key part of our lives, we desire happiness, support and connection. When we feel a strong sense of connection and invest in our relationship we feel at our happiest and most fulfilled.
When we encounter relationship difficulties it isn't always easy to know where to turn. Loosing connection with our loved one can leave us feeling alone and disappointed.
Counselling provides space for you as a couple (or an individual) to explore your concerns, expectations and needs within the relationship, helping you rebuild trust, communication, and intimacy. The goal is to help the couple rebuild trust, deepen intimacy, and develop the skills needed to navigate challenges together in a constructive manner.
Working together we can explore yourselves as individuals, and develop understanding of each others needs within the relationship, gaining new perspective.
Many issues can affect relationships; family issues, infidelity, sexual issues, trauma, communication difficulties, cultural differences, imbalanced responsibilities. Relationship counselling can help you improve your relationship by breaking free of old unhealthy patterns of behaviour and develop new healthy methods of expressing your thoughts and feelings.
Practice description
Couples counselling will offer a safe space for you to explore issues within the relationship. Through talking, we will explore the issues and consider what changes or issues have impacted the relationship, figuring out what you might like to be different, or exploring uncomfortable issues to rebuild a bond. It may be that you need help working through a break up, finding a way to communicate with each other whilst navigating separate lives.
My office is centrally based in Bishop's Stortford, accessible to Stansted, Dunmow, Sawbridgeworth and Saffron Walden. There is nearby parking.
