About me and my therapy practice
Are negative thoughts keeping you stuck in anxiety?
Is low mood making it harder to motivate yourself?
Is lack of self-belief preventing you from living a full life?
In times of emotional challenge you may be engaging unhelpful habits, causing you to feel anxious or experiencing low mood. We will explore any unhelpful coping strategies and focus on what lies at the root of these feelings and behaviours.
As humans, we love clarity and certainty, but life can sometimes be chaotic and unpredictable. Whilst black and white thinking sounds beautifully simplistic, it is often the chaos, complexity and colour that brings the beauty, peace and understanding. Whilst the process can feel challenging, we can do this together.
My practice is built on empathy, no judging and validation. I want you to feel heard and understood in a safe space. Clients have shared feeling so much lighter after offloading difficult thoughts and feelings, wishing they had engaged with counselling sooner.
Perhaps you are avoiding vulnerable feelings, believing them to be a sign of weakness. To the contrary, healthier, deeper connections are formed when we are open and vulnerable with others. Allowing vulnerability into your life also opens the door to compassion and self-care.
As you grow closer to your authentic self, notice how your worldview becomes easier to navigate.
My aim is to work with you to build a healthy therapeutic relationship, that you can mirror in your world outside the counselling room.
Practice description
My work mainly focuses on anxiety and depression, symptomatic of life changing events such as grief and loss, abuse, relationship issues and many more. Your experiences can easily manifest in symptoms such as low self-esteem, stress and many other negative symptoms.
I work with particular models that both underpin my practice and support my clients:
A) Person-centred therapy built on empathy and genuineness
B) Psychodynamic theory:
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in the client's present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are client self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior.
i. Namely Attachment Theory which focuses on the attachment bond between mother and child in formative years. The quality of this relationship creates a template for our emotional wellbeing during adolescence and adulthood. It is not unusual to hold on to learnt behaviours that no longer serve the person you are now.
ii. Transactional Analysis which focuses on our learned behaviour around communication, helping us to understand why we think, act and feel the way we do.
Using these theories, my aim is to help you grow emotionally, including incorporation of your values and beliefs to connect with your true self. Working through this together, you will benefit from feeling empowered with greater self-belief

The next step is an initial one hour assessment providing you with a confidential, safe space for you to share a little more deeply what brings you to counselling now. This session will enable you to engage and experience in a therapeutic relationship. By doing so, you will hopefully experience, empathy, understanding and no judgement.

Might your negative thinking be making you anxious?
Is it hard to face your feelings?
Is it difficult to motivate yourself right now?
In times of emotional challenge you may be avoiding your feelings, perhaps experiencing anxiety or low mood.
In therapy we will address any coping strategies you have adopted and focus on what lies at the root of your feelings.
My practice is built on empathy, no judgement and authenticity. I want you to have a unique helpful experience, where you feel heard and seen without judgement.
I want you to leave our sessions feeling lighter which you can achieve through a better appreciation of yourself.
As humans, we love clarity and certainty, but life can sometimes be chaotic and unpredictable. Whilst black and white thinking sounds beautifully simplistic, it is often the chaos, complexity and colour that brings the beauty, peace and understanding. It is a challenging process but you don’t have to go at it alone.
You may be preventing yourself from feelings of vulnerability, thinking it a sign of weakness when in fact others are more able to connect with you when you are open. By allowing vulnerability in, I will show you how to invite compassion and self-care into your life. As you become closer to your authentic self, your worldview will become easier to navigate.
One of the most rewarding parts of therapy is when we experience a real breakthrough, seeing that certain unhelpful behaviours may have held you back
My aim is to build a healthy therapeutic relationship, one in which you can benefit from your view of the world.
Practice description
My work mainly focuses on anxiety and depression, symptomatic of life changing events such as grief and loss, abuse, relationship issues and many more. Such experiences can manifest in symptoms such as low self-esteem and stress related illness.
My practice is built on my values and belief system where I have chosen the following modalities:
A) Person-centred therapy built on empathy and genuineness
B) Psychodynamic theory: psychodynamic therapy focusing on unconscious processes as they are manifested in the client's present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are client self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior.
i. Namely Attachment Theory which focuses on the attachment bond between mother and child in formative years. The quality of this relationship will normally create a template for the child's emotional wellbeing during adolescence and adulthood.
ii. Transactional Analysis which focuses on our learned behaviour around communication, helping us to understand why we think, act and feel the way we do. We will also focus on the parent, adult, child states in adulthood.
Using these theories, my clients’ journey involves an appreciation as to how we as humans work to understand ourselves, our relationships and our way of being in the world. Each therapeutic relationship is unique and there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach.
