About me and my therapy practice

Do you find yourself in a cycle of continuous worry or stress? Do you feel overwhelmed or stuck. Do you feel uncertain about which direction you want to take in life, or feel like your not living the life you want to lead? Have you started to notice patterns in your life that you don't like and want to make a change?

Life can feel really hard at times and there are times when talking with friends and family doesn’t feel as useful as we might hope. Talking in confidence with a therapist can be a powerful way of making sense of our life and getting in touch with who we really are or really want to be. Getting counselling is a brave step in the direction of personal growth and change. Admitting that you'd like things to be different and taking positive action to make change happen takes real courage. I believe that therapy creates a unique opportunity for exploration and discovery and can be one of the most meaningful endeavours we embark on.

I have worked in the field of social care for the last 20 years and have a wealth of experience in this area relating to trauma and loss, child mental health, adoption, adult disability and ill health. I have 8 years of experience as a therapist with adults and young people (age 11 and up) as well as having worked in a mental health setting for the NHS for 2 years.

Practice description

My approach is therapy is 'Intergrative', which means I use aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,  Humanist, Systemic and Psychodynamic models of understanding behaviour and change. I am currently offering face to face, online and phone sessions.

My first session

First sessions (and sessions there after) last for up to an hour. In our first session we will begin to create a shared understanding of the things you would like us to explore together and you will get a good sense of whether I feel like the right fit for you as a therapist.
