About me and my therapy practice

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ

I am an experienced counselling psychologist and psychotherapist (doctoral level). I specialise in working with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, abuse, boarding school syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia.

I work online and face-to-face in South West London and Oxfordshire. I am a clinical lead and supervisor at a company called EASE Wellbeing. This operates within GP surgeries, working with NHS patients, as well as with self-referrals. As such, I have extensive experience working with a wide range of difficulties in both a short-term goal orientated format, as well as a long term open-ended manner.

I have worked at the charity Mind, seeing clients on a long term basis. Additionally, I have experience working with young people (individuals over 12 years) via the charity Place2Be in secondary school settings and also within private practise.

I have completed a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and I am recognised by the professional bodies of the BPS and HCPC. I am also a psychotherapist accredited with the UKCP and also the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ. Therefore, I have trained in integrative models, mindfulness-based approaches, psychodynamic approaches, CBT, and this informs my main mode of practice of existential-phenomenological therapy. I take the view that each client has unique needs and therefore I do not subscribe to one set theory or model and take a personalised and strongly relational approach.

The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.

Practice description

There might be times when we find ourselves out of control, fearing that we might be going mad, struggling to cope and in intense emotional pain. Therapy can help you to understand your feelings, thoughts and what you are experiencing in a non-judgemental and confidential space.

Often behaviours or modes of being that have been useful in the past are no longer serving us well in our current lives. Therapy can be a space to foster awareness into what is keeping us stuck and through the re-examination of the roles we might be adopting in relation to ourselves and others, our choices and beliefs, a new perspective and understanding into ourselves and our difficulties can be reached. This new understanding and awareness can increase our sense of freedom, with new choices and possibilities arising and a sense of clarity in how to move forward and live a more fulfilling life. But, more than anything I hope to provide a space in which you do not need to pretend to be anything, or meet anyones expectations or demands, you can truly be yourself, without a fear of judgement.

Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor for change and accordingly I put great emphasis on the relational dynamics. It is essential that you find a therapist that you feel comfortable with, so please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or book an initial consultation, with no obligation to continue.

Practice description

So often we can live our lives without questioning our beliefs, assumptions, values, feelings and behaviours, or giving space to our feelings and needs. I will support you in expressing your difficulties in your current situation and be there alongside you with compassion, interest, understanding and stability. I will provide a non-judgemental and confidential space, where I will help you to understand your feelings, thoughts and behaviours, in order to see what might be holding you back or causing you to exhibit unhealthy patterns of relating towards yourself and others.

Through the re-examination of the roles we may be adopting in relation to ourselves, others and the world, our choices and beliefs, a new perspective and understanding into ourselves and our difficulties can be reached. This new understanding and awareness can increase our sense of freedom, with new choices and possibilities arising, and a sense of clarity in how to move forward and live a more fulfilling life. More than anything I hope to provide a space in a relaxed environment, where you can be truly yourself, without fear of judgement, expectations or demands being put upon you. Nothing is too much or too little to bring to therapy. I work creatively and will find a way to help you open up if this is something that you find challenging.

Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor for change and accordingly I put great emphasis on the relational dynamics. It is essential that you find a therapist that you feel comfortable with, so please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or book an initial consultation, with no obligation to continue.

I can do online and face-to-face supervision and I am happy to do group supervision sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ

I trained as an existential-phenomenological supervisor at NSPC, however I have also supervised a number of individuals working in an integrative, humanistic and person-centred manner. I am a senior supervisor at EASE Wellbeing, delivering supervision in both group and individual formats and online and face-to-face. I  have also supervised individuals working in private practise and also those in training who need additional supervision to support their placement supervision.

The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.

Practice description

My aim for supervision is to create a safe place, within which you can explore your clinical work, reflecting on challenges, how you relate to each client and what their material may bring up for you. This is with the aim that you will gain a greater understanding into your clients’ worldview, their material and what is happening in the ‘here and now’ of the therapeutic relationship, as well as deepening your insights into yourself.

Supervision is a place to be fully honest and I hope to foster such an environment to make that possible, building your confidence where needed and celebrating when things go well, but also being a vital support during challenging times both personally and professionally. I aim for supervision to be Restorative (Hawkins and Shohet model, 1989), in that it helps you to find a restoration or balance, in order to see the bigger picture for your client and to notice any blind spots, vulnerabilities or collusive behaviours that could be occurring.

Supervision is a place to reflect on the integration of theory and practice and I will draw your attention to relevant articles, books, podcasts, and journals. I will also ensure that we address any ethical dilemmas and that risk is always appropriately assessed and managed. I am currently registered with BPS, HCPC, UKCP, as well as the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ and therefore have a familiarity with a number of ethical frameworks and the requirements of these.

I like to really get to know my supervisees, provide a space to explore difficult things going on in their life, to give time to how they are and what might be going on outside of therapy that may impact their sessions (if they feel comfortable telling me).

I always look forward to my supervision sessions and hope that they leave you with increased energy for your clinical work, and with a new perspective, ideas and reflections and I am always humbled by how much I simultaneously learn.
