About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified, accredited and experienced counsellor and have worked with people facing a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship and/or family problems, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, bereavement, loss of identity, low self-esteem and confidence, work place stress and issues around pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood. I am warm and empathic and I offer a safe, non-judgemental and collaborative space for you to explore the issues you wish to, at your own speed. I firmly believe that feeling heard and understood by another can have a powerful effect and that through the building of a trusting and secure counselling relationship, a person in counselling can start to gain a new perspective on what's going on in their lives.

Most people will find that there are times in their lives when things feel particularly difficult, perhaps overwhelmingly so. This might be due to a specific experience happening currently or in the past that you would like to process, or general feelings of being lost or confused. Sometimes we don't know why we're feeling a certain way. At these times, accessing counselling can feel like a useful support. I can offer a space that is calm, warm and accepting to start the process of exploring what's going on for you.

I work with people who identify themselves in a variety of different ways, whether related to their sexuality, gender, religion or cultural backgrounds.

Coming to counselling can be daunting, whether for the first time or not, so we will take things at a pace you feel comfortable with.

I can offer sessions either face to face, online or over the phone.

Practice description

When working face to face, I work out of a location in Peckham (near Peckham Rye station), South-East London. I also offer online or phone sessions and can therefore work with anyone from around the country.

I am an accredited and qualified Person-Centred counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Registered member MÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ). I adhere to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Ethical Framework for Good Practice (2018). I have a BA Hons and Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from the Metanoia Institute, which is affiliated with Middlesex University.

Prior to working in mental health, I had a career working in film and theatre. I've worked with many people from this industry in my counselling work. I currently work with a mental health organisation called Wellbeing in the Arts that offers counselling and wellbeing support to employees of a variety of Arts organisations.

I have worked for a variety of charitable organisations in London. I spent 2 years working for an EAP (Employee Assistance Programme), offering support to employees from a variety of organisations.

I have experience working with people long term, as well as on a more short term basis.

Relevant qualification and training:

- BA Hon and Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from the Metanoia Institute.

- Foundation certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Regents College.

- Certificates in Continuing Professional Development workshops such as; Working with people with Dementia, Emotion-Focused therapy, Spirituality in Person-Centred Therapy, and Working with Autistic Process.

Currently, I have availability on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the day for face to face/online/phone sessions, and Mondays for online/phone sessions.

My first session

Once you've made initial contact with me, I suggest having a brief chat on the phone to get an idea of what you're looking to come to counselling for, and for you to ask any questions you may have.

During this call, we can set up an initial session that will take place either face to face, online or over the phone, depending on what you're looking for . This initial session will be a full length session of 50 minutes. This can be a good opportunity for you to get a feel of whether I might be the right counsellor for you. If we agree to continue working together after this, we will have weekly sessions on the same day at the same time.

The initial session is £45 and sessions are £65 after that.
