About me and my therapy practice
A warm welcome to you and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I understand that recognising and deciding that you need some additional support in your life is a significant and sometimes a daunting place to be. It is also an important step towards a happier and more fulfilling life. However, it can feel confusing and even overwhelming to then decide on which way to turn or who the right person is for you to share your journey with. In the paragraphs that follow, I will tell you a little bit about myself, how I work and what I can offer, as well talk about my training and experience to date, which I hope will help to make this important step seem a little clearer for you. If you do have any questions then I would be happy to hear from you.
My therapeutic approach has been described as supportive, warm, collaborative and creative and is ultimately underpinned by my passion for helping others. I provide the space and environment necessary for personal growth and change to occur, where you are free to explore your inner most thoughts and feelings confidentially, safely and without judgement. 鈥婣s a Humanistic and Integrative counsellor, I work within a flexible framework which enables me to draw from a wide range of skills and techniques, acquired from the study of several core counselling modalities. These include Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Existential approaches. This essentially means that I am able to tailor your counselling according to your needs, complimenting your unique, individual self.
Practice description
My work is collaborative, warm, flexible and set at your pace. I approach counselling with a focus on developing and increasing your self-awareness; self-acceptance and self-responsibility which can continue to support and guide you in your life after counselling has ended.
Increasing your self-awareness, can help you to gain new insights and identify unhelpful thinking/behavioural patterns which you may wish to change if that is right for you. By becoming more self-aware and accepting, you naturally experience a more integrated sense of self, which can lead you towards a more authentic and fulfilling life, healthier relationships and a freedom from suffering, which you may not be aware you are carrying. Finally, by learning to take responsibility in our lives, we essentially empower ourselves. We empower ourselves to own our life choices, the meaning we make of these and ultimately take control of our own happiness.
What counselling is not, is giving advice, diagnosing or 'fixing'. I believe that you are the expert on you and therefore I will provide the space and the right environment for you to feel heard. I would describe my practice as a collaborative co-exploration, working together to support your process of exploring and understanding your thoughts, feelings and needs and where necessary, supporting you in making changes towards a more fulfilled and happier you. Therefore, as I often say, I am not a 鈥渜uiet鈥 counsellor and my clients often feedback how they enjoy my dynamic and relational approach to the work.
As a registered member of the 香港六合彩精准资料, I adhere to the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2016) which sets out a code of ethics and guidance for good practice, which informs and underpins all areas of my counselling practice. This ensures that our work together will be of the highest standard with a strong and ethical foundation from which to build upon.
My first session
Central to counselling is the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor, therefore choosing the right counsellor is an important and individual decision. It can take time to find the right person to share your journey with and may at times feel confusing or overwhelming. To help you in your search, I offer a complimentary 30 minute initial assessment, where you can meet with me online/by telephone and get a feel for how I work and whether I am the right counsellor to join you on your therapeutic journey. This is not a counselling session, rather an opportunity to for us to briefly discuss what is troubling you; what I can offer and mutually assess whether it is right for us to work together.
