About me and my therapy practice
A background about me, my training and experience:
With 27 years qualified and 25 years Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Accredited it is a challenge to condense all my counselling experience accomplishments and strengths into a few sentences, but, I will attempt to make you feel I am competent enough to help you.
In my first 12 years of qualifying I secured my clinical supervision with the clinical lead of C.A.M.H.S NHS.
As a result I gained considerable experience in assessment and treatment of young people and adults with severe and complex mental health issues. This proved to be invaluable securing me a specialist role as a therapist for 11 years with the NHS Trust community Mental health, drug and alcohol team. This began my experience working with Adult and young people survivors of neglect and chronic abuse, especially sexual. Which resulted in survivors going onto self medicate.
This work taught me to adapt my treatment interventions and the need to extend my knowledge of models, and especially the skill to deliver a wide range of treatments like Trauma based work or CBT in order to match my clients varying needs.
I went onto train and gain experience as a clinical supervisor resulting in a contract with Suffolk Mind for 9 years supervising their counsellors. Other works in this field are with contracts with Open road, and wellbeing practitioners. I have just completed 12 years with Suffolk rape crisis team contracted to provide trauma based therapies to girl and adult survivors of Sexual abuse and domestic violence. This also included all relevant trainings in this field.
I come with 21 years experience based with community Education and youth projects working, with referrals from social services , mental health services, schools , police etc, to provide therapies to young people with severe and complex issues of all kinds, but, especially trauma based.
