About me and my therapy practice

I aim to create an open, generous and welcoming space which honours your own unique way of being. It is my hope that you will feel deeply listened to, heard and met, and experience me as genuine, empathic and transparent in relationship with you, working actively and collaboratively to help you arrive at ways forward which feel satisfying and positive for you. Working in a person-centred and relational way, perspectives gained during additional professional development in Systemic Family Therapy, Couples Work, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy may also be useful to our work together. I am also a trained EMDR (Trauma) therapist.

Practice description

As a counsellor for more than twenty years in GP surgeries, hospices and cancer-care centres, I work with individuals on a wide range of issues relating to health and illness, bereavement, relationship difficulties, self-worth, difficult past experiences, work problems, low mood and trauma. Part of my work has involved helping children, young people and families where there is serious illness or bereavement, and training education and health professionals in how best to support them.

We can meet in whichever way is most helpful for you: in person, online, telephone or email. Sometimes circumstances may need us to shift between different ways of working - we can be flexible.

My first session

An initial meeting is an opportunity for us to explore together what brings you to therapy, how you would like it to support you at present and any aims you might have - it may be that this is not very clear to you at the moment, and that is fine too. It will help give you a sense of whether I am the right person to work with you at this time; and it will assist us both in thinking through whether there are other sources of support or therapies which might be more helpful to you.
