Practice description

The way we work will depend upon your preferences and goals and will include regular reviews to ensure that the work is helpful and targeted.

My first session

Adults;

I offer a free call so that we can look at what support I offer and whether it can meet your needs. This gives you an opportunity to see if we might be a good fit for working together. I encourage potential clients to contact a number of therapists. The counselling relationship is the most significant element of therapy and getting it right will be more likely to lead to positive outcomes for clients.

If after our telephone consultation you would like to work together, you are sent forms to complete. We then start work and there is an expectation that we see each other every week at the same time on the same day, until our work together is complete.

We can work together creatively if that is something you would like to do. With children and young people, the work will be done through play as talking therapies aren’t usually appropriate, depending upon age and other factors.

Children and Young People;

The initial call is with parents as above.

There is then an initial session with the child or young person accompanied by their parent or guardian if age appropriate/consented to. This provides your child with the opportunity to feel safe and experience the process so that they can then think about whether they would like to continue and give informed consent to do so.
