About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome to my counselling profile, I shall be pleased to help you. You may wish to book a free consultation where we can meet and discuss your needs in more detail.

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and therapist, accredited by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ and NCPS, and a qualified to work with individuals and couples. My clinical experience spans some 30 years and embraces a range of integrative therapeutic approaches influenced by humanistic and psychodynamic thinking and other modalities, such as TA, IFS and Coherence therapy. In training, I gained Diploma in Counselling and went on to take a Post Graduate and a Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy at The Kent Institute for Medicine and Health Sciences (KIMHS) at Kent University.

I have worked in a busy NHS IAPT service as a Clinical Lead and therapist and supervisor, and in both the voluntary and private sectors - I abide by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

Currently I’m working in Private Practice providing counselling for  individuals and couples, and supervise therapists within a small charity in Kent providing affordable, open-ended counselling.

Practice description

Counselling is often referred to as a talking therapy. I offer you a professional, confidential, safe, respectful and relaxed environment where you can be free to express yourself without fear of judgement. I will listen carefully to try and understand your concerns and needs, and with you, help to find the right and appropriate way forward of your choosing.

If you are struggling with depression or low mood, anxiety, stress, bereavement, low self-esteem or self-confidence; perhaps going through some troubling relationship or family issue, or some important life changes, then please feel free to contact me for an appointment or a preliminary talk through your needs. I offer sessions in-person at my practice clinic, via zoom and by telephone.

My first session

It is customary for me to offer a short introductory chat by telephone to assist you with any preliminary questions you may have and to ensure that I feel I can be of potential help to you subject to an assessment.

I would then offer an initial assessment to explore more deeply your concerns and needs from counselling and this will also give us an opportunity to see if we feel comfortable working together and to set some preliminary goals or aims from counselling. Following this session, should we agree to continue then I will send you a draft contract for you to agree and we would both sign and have a copy.

Sessions can be for a fixed, a time-limited period, or we might agree to have an open-ended arrangement.

At this point we can agree any other special needs you may have around sessions, for example, shift patterns at work, or child care needs and agree a plan for this, together with arrangements for contact between sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. If you are looking for an experienced supervisor who is supportive and can help you to work effectively and creatively with your clients, I shall be pleased to work with you. If so, you may like to contact me for a free initial consultation, where we can meet and discuss your individual needs from supervision in more detail and look at the possibility of working together.

Just a little background about myself.......I am a qualified and experienced supervisor and counsellor, accredited by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ and NCPS, and qualified to supervise  individuals and groups. My clinical experience spans some 30 years and embraces a range of integrative therapeutic approaches influenced by humanistic, psychodynamic thinking and various modalities, such as CBT, TA, IFS and Coherence therapy. In training, I gained Diplomas in Counselling and Supervision and went on to take a Post Graduate and Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy at The Kent Institute for Health Sciences (KIMHS), Kent University.

I have worked in a busy NHS IAPT service as a Clinical Lead and Clinical Supervisor and in both the voluntary and private sectors - I  have a good grasp of both ethical and legal matters within the profession and abide by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Ethical Framework.

Currently I’m working in Private Practice supervising therapists as individuals and groups, and supervise within a small charity in Kent providing affordable, open-ended counselling.

I have always been passionate about this field of work and bring this to my supervision practice.

Practice description

My usual approach to supervision offers face to face, online and telephone supervision to support counselling trainees and experienced therapists in their professional work and personal development. My approach to supervision is collaborative and supportive, paying close attention to the client, therapist and supervisor relationship as the vehicle towards insight and change. I tend to work within the seven-eyed model of supervision, which I find most engaging, creative and empowering; however, I am happy to work within other approaches, including developmental and reflective models, using the normative, formative and restorative construct.

My first session

Session can be arranged for 60, 90 or 120 minutes in length and at the intervals that best suit your needs and availability.

Most sessions can be monthly, however, some therapists will often prefer fortnightly sessions, especially if training or on placement and I am available for consultation on an ad-hoc basis should ever the need arise.

During our first exploratory supervision session together I will want to understand about you and your work and reflect on your journey until now. We will think about your training and theoretical understanding and approach, and how I can add richness and new perspective to your work.
