About me and my therapy practice
Bereavement, Loss and Grief Counselling
I help adults, and children aged between 10-18, who are grieving the loss of a loved one by listening to them, supporting them and understanding their unique situation.
I'm wondering if, at the moment, you're grieving- and you're finding that you're supporting other family members too with their loss-leaving no time for you to grieve?
Or wondering if you're 'grieving properly'?
Does it feel like you can't carry on talking about the person you love and miss, as you feel you don't want to bother people with your sadness?
Has it been a while since they died, and you're thinking that those around you expect you to be 'over it' by now?
Did you know that grief can occur after other life events too?
Grief can be experienced after many kinds of losses, for example:
- After the end of a relationship or friendship
- After the end of a career, whether this has ended due to redundancy, termination, or ill health
- After an illness, where the illness has led to a loss of independence?
- When a family member, or friend, has received a diagnosis of a life-limiting condition or illness?
Are any of those situations sounding familiar to you?
How would you like to be completely listened to? And feel supported?
An opportunity for you, and your story, to be heard?
To take time out- time just for you?
People that I have previously helped, and supported, have told me that even after their first appointment, they have noticed a difference in themselves, this is because they have not just been listened to, but heard.
Every person's grief is unique to them. Having grieved myself, I know that every person has their own thoughts and feelings, which are not like anyone else's.
I know it's hard to reach out and ask for help when you are going through a very emotional time.
I know it's hard when other people are giving you their opinions or advice -and that's not helping you.
If you'd like to book an appointment with me, please send me an e-mail and I will respond within one day.
Practice description
More information about my counselling practice can be found on my website, which is:
www.caringcounselling.co.uk
I have ten years' experience in counselling people who came to me for help with many different situations, during my time working as a volunteer counsellor at a local Christian counselling organisation.
I have been in private practice now for four years. I work at my home from a comfortable and private counselling room. I also offer appointments in purpose-built counselling rooms at the Benfleet Water Tower, where I work as an associate counsellor.
I work with adults, and children, between the ages of 10-18 years.
I hold an Advanced Certificate in Children's Counselling.
As a bereavement, loss and grief counsellor, I have a deep understanding of grief and how each person grieves differently.
This means that at every appointment, you will receive counselling which is tailored to your own individual situation and needs.
You are able to choose where you prefer your counselling to take place, if you live on Canvey Island my home may be more convenient for you, or you may like to come to Benfleet Water Tower if you live in Benfleet or nearby.
During your counselling session, I will listen attentively to you as you tell your story. You choose how much of your story you want to share.
I will work with you to achieve the best outcome for you, so that you will be able to live your life with renewed purpose.
As a Christian, I can offer faith-based counselling, if you would like this.
I am also able to offer you counselling online ,or over the phone, if you would like this option.
This option means that you can easily access counselling services from your home.
I am trained in both online counselling and telephone counselling.
I am a Member of ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online)
Headphones are worn to ensure complete privacy during your phone or online call.
You can be sure that you will receive caring and supportive counselling.
My first session
I would encourage you to arrange a no-obligation telephone call with me before you book your first counselling appointment.
The reason that I offer this to you is for you to talk to me about how you are feeling right now and what is happening for you. You are, of course, free to ask me any questions you like and to choose where and how you want to have your first session, for example whether you would prefer online, face to face, or phone counselling.
This no-obligation phone call will give you the chance to find out if we could work well together, as it is really important that you choose a counsellor that you are comfortable with, as a good counselling relationship is so important in your counselling journey.
Once we have had a chat and you are happy to take things forward, I'll ask you when you would like to book an appointment. When the counselling appointment has been booked, I'll e-mail you the counselling contract and information about my private practice along with a form for you to fill in, with your name, address and a few simple questions.
When you have completed the form, and you're happy with the counselling contract, you can choose to e-mail it back to me, or bring it with you if you're coming to see me.
When we meet for our first session, you will be welcomed into the counselling room and invited to share your story with me, this can be as much or as little as you feel ready to share, the session is completely your time. If you would like, we can go through any questions you might have about our counselling contract, or anything else you might want to ask me.
You are free to choose how many sessions you need, there is no requirement for you to have a set number of sessions, as everyone has different needs and situations.
Please feel free to send me an e-mail to ask me any questions. I would also be happy to have a chat with you about anything that you would like to know about counselling and how it can help you.
