About me and my therapy practice

If you are struggling with issues around eating or weight, I will work with you to develop  balanced healthy responses to food. I will  help you to build  self- esteem which will ensure that your new behaviours last. Making changes to long term beliefs and behaviours is not easy,  but I will use my extensive experience, training and specialist knowledge to address the emotional, psychological and behavioural barriers that are causing you to feel the way you do. I will support and guide  you  to make the changes that will allow you to feel at ease around food so that you can focus on other aspects of life  - relationships, work, fun - free from guilt shame and anxiety.

I can also offer specialised support if your aim is to overcome addictions, or feel that you have beginning to develop a dependent relationship with alcohol or any other substance.

Practice description

I work integratively, using effective techniques and practices developed through years of research into eating disorders and disordered eating. The work is holistic, and will cover your past and present, identifying unhelpful mindsets, beliefs and behaviours that have resulted in your current struggle. There will be tasks to do in between sessions - the more you engage with the therapy, the more you will benefit. I will work at your pace and tailor the session to your individual needs.

My first session

The first session will involve a detailed fact finding about you, in order to enable me to tailor your treatment according to your needs. I will ask you about your family, and early life, schooling, relationships, work, health and significant events. We will discuss the reason you have come for counselling, how long the issues have been present, and what you would ideally like to achieve. Will we identify realistic goals for your counselling, and decide how often you will attend.

Counselling  is the most rewarding activity you can undertake,  but by it's very nature, can leave you feeling alone with your caseload, and at times unsure of your decisions and how your practice is developing.

Good supervision is a vital resource, and l would be delighted to offer you a steady, compassionate and informed perspective on the valuable work that you do.

Our supervisory needs change throughout our career, and I am able to offer the reassurance and guidance needed if you are training or new to counselling, or if you are an experienced practitioner looking for fresh perspectives or challenges to deepen your work, l can offer that too.

My specialisms as a counsellor ( eating disorders, addiction, relationship work, EAPs as well as anxiety and depression) mean that I can provide you with more specific insight into these areas of your work.

About me and my therapy practice

As with my counselling practice, l will very much build our sessions around your needs as a practitioner, and have the belief that my role is to support you in the difficult challenges that you face, as well as to celebrate with you the successes that you experience. You may doubt your skills and qualities at times, and l see my role as being able to remind you of those, while collaboratively unpicking the challenges your clients are presenting.

I have 19 years of experience of private practice and can therefore offer you the benefit of those years in developing or maintaining your work.

Practice description

I can work online via Zoom or What's app video call or in-person in Killay or Walter Road, Swansea.

I can offer you 1;5 hour sessions, or also shorter sessions to supplement your main supervision ( 30 minutes minimum for £30)

Please feel free to enquire and we can work out what might help you best.

My first session

In the first session I will gather any extra information l need about your practice ( we will have already had a telephone conversation about working together),  establish our general working contract together and then I would  invite you to discuss at least one client in the first session so that we can get a sense of how we both work.
