About me and my therapy practice

I am a registered member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ). I see clients on a weekly basis, but biweekly is also possible on request. I offer individual counselling to adults (18+) and work short-term and long-term/open-ended, depending on each individual's needs. I am working with clients from all walks of life (ethnic background, nationality, occupation, sexual orientation, age, gender), and have been privileged to support them and be part of their individual journeys.

Talking to someone outside of your usual environment, someone not involved can be sometimes easier, as this is a space and time just for you to explore your issue and anything you want to talk about.

Seeking counselling may be because you struggle with feeling depressed & anxious or experience intrusive thoughts or panic attacks, which could be for an number of reasons, including, but not limited to: relationship issues, past and historic problems, family issues, work related stress, bullying, burnout, redundancy, loss, identity issues, low-self-esteem, low-self confidence, feeling sad & hopeless, loneliness, identity struggles, childhood trauma, or emotional abuse...

You may also feel overwhelmed by emotions like shame or guilt or always feel responsible for things and experience a high sense of duty and obligation, and perhaps feel stuck in that and don't know how to change that or to make sense of your experience.

I am here to support you in making sense of your experiences, understanding yourself better, gaining more clarity & finding your own insights & resolutions to issues. I will facilitate you in your process, in growing your self-awareness, building your resilience or overcoming past destructive patterns enabling you to make better choices for yourself & to lead a more positive and fulfilling life in the present.

Practice description

As a Humanistic Counsellor I work in an integrative way and draw from Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt approaches. I take a holistic approach to you by understanding & recognising your unique experiences, your life, the relationship with yourself, others & the world around you. I provide a safe, confidential & non-judgemental space and encourage you to freely express yourself, your emotions, vulnerabilities & experiences.

The way I work therapeutically values and respects each individual's autonomy, I will meet you as your own autonomous agent making your own choices to the best of your ability. I believe that you have the resources and potential within you to make the changes you desire and will empower you in that. I will support you in your process and when you feel most vulnerable, by providing a supportive and trusting space and relationship. I will facilitate you in gaining better self-understanding, personal growth & development, as well as supporting you in your healing journey from any past damage.

Formerly I studied Social Pedagogy with a special focus on Developmental Psychology as well as having gained a degree in Psychology and Sociology. This has furthered my understandings in areas like emotional/social/cognitive & personality development, relationships and attachment. It greatly deepens my understanding in my work with adults in a therapeutic setting and seeing each individual in a more whole and holistic way, with their past and present.

My first session

You can arrange the first session directly with me or request a free 15 min chat beforehand, if you are unsure about starting counselling. This may be because you have never had therapy before or had a negative counselling experience or just find it hard to open up and talk. This brief initial chat is also an opportunity in case you have any questions that you would like to be answered.

Once we have arranged a session time, I will forward you some more details before the first session, including a counselling agreement and a GDPR client privacy note for you to read, which can also discuss in the first session if you have any questions in regards to that.

The first session is a full session and is about getting to know you more and for you to tell me about your issues, why you seek counselling and what you expect from this space and me. We will then look together at how I can best support you in your journey and talk to you about the counselling process. Everything you share with me is confidential.

You get to experience how it is working with me and whether you want to go ahead in working with me. There is no obligation to do so, as I believe the relationship is fundamental in the counselling process, and I appreciate and respect each individual's choice about the best fit for them.
