About me and my therapy practice

I aim to help you to find a way forward out of a stressful or painful time.  I believe there is always hope for change. Having worked in the NHS and Public health for many years specialising in health improvement I now work in private practice. 

I supervise counsellors and volunteers in local York charities.

I work from a person centered approach integrating other theories of counselling as appropriate including CBT. I am comfortable working with spirituality and existential issues.

I have a graduate diploma in Counselling from York St John 2002 and a diploma in Supervision 2017. I was also a registered nurse and have an honours degree in English and Philosophy.

My first session

In my first session I will ask a number of questions to gain a picture of your physical emotional and mental health and there will be time to look at what you are looking forward to achieving from Counselling.

My first session

I offer an initial free phone conversation to arrange the practicalities of meeting times and suitability of the relational style of Supervision which I provide. All arranged meetings in person are then payable. I offer an initial hours session in which we agree a supervision contract  before the Counsellor sees any clients.
