I am currently available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays between 8:00am and 17:00pm. I also work on a Saturday morning.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer a calm, thoughtful and compassionate environment within which you can share at your own pace and let me know what helps and what doesn't.
I am passionate about helping my clients understand themselves better and find a way through their difficulties. We work together to get to a point where you feel better equipped to go it alone.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am trained in psychodynamic counselling (looking at the importance of the unconscious and past experience in shaping current behaviour), person-centred (you are the expert in your own life and my role is to help you make the changes you identify as needed) and cognitive behavioural therapy (which focuses on current problems and practical solutions to help you feel better).
I also integrate current knowledge acquired through ongoing professional development, to further add to my original training and experience.
Practice description
To begin with, I will ask questions, taking more of a lead, and then usually less so as the therapy goes on and you become more comfortable and open up at your own pace.
My approach is tailor-made to fit your needs as they may change through the process of counselling. I have a flexible, adaptive and collaborative way of working with you. We work together to establish realistic goals, agree on regular reviews of progress and plan when to end therapy.
My first session
The first session is half-price, online (I use Doxy or Google meet) or over the phone should this work better for you, and lasts up to an hour; this gives us both the opportunity to see if we can work together, and what your goals for counselling might be. I will take factual notes, which you are welcome to see, and which are kept securely according to the current GDPR recommendations.
Thereafter, we will meet once a week usually on the same day at the same time, for the amount of sessions we decided upon. We regularly review how things are and whether you feel ready to stop our sessions or continue further in view to achieving your goal.
