About me and my therapy practice
Counselling involves a precious and trusting relationship and this is part of the process that I believe is paramount to our work. I work in a collaborative and humanistic way, offering a safe, confidential space and I have always worked in a highly sensitive manner, understanding that absolute discretion is vital. I believe in helping to explore every individual's potential. Alongside my private work I have worked in schools and youth settings for many years, as such, I have current and extensive experience of the issues faced by young people and by those who have young people in their lives. I am trained in a number of different counselling modalities and will work in an integrative way, using methods most appropriate to you.
Practice description
Every person I meet has their own unique set of needs and communication style. For some, the thought of counselling can be quite daunting, for others quite exciting. I will "meet" you wherever you are on this continuum and we will work at a pace that you are comfortable with.
My first session
In our first session I will outline our counselling contract and how I work, you will also be able to ask any questions that you may have. Our first session is really important as it gives you the opportunity to get a feel of how we might work together. I offer a reduced rate for this session as I feel that it is important to recognize that it is a trial session. For under 18s I meet with a parent or guardian for the first 10 minutes of the first session and they are present when I go through the contract and also have the opportunity to ask questions. After this the remainder of the session belongs to the young person. This is true of both online and face to face sessions.

About me and my therapy practice
Supervision is a supportive, dynamic relationship between professionals in the counselling profession. It has been one of the richest catalysts of my own career as a counselling practitioner. It is a vital, safe, and ethically mandatory space where therapists can reflect on their work and safely learn. As a supervisor, I hold in mind the importance of the process of forming and maintaining relationships, whether these be with your clients or between ourselves; and key to my own model, philosophy and practice is the collaborative and trusting nature of this work. I use the seven-eyed model of supervision as a basis, but will bring in many aspects of my experience when we are working together.
I have worked in school, charity and private settings for many years and a vast body of my work has been with young people under the age of 30.
I am a keen follower of developments in neuroscience and enjoy exploring how knowledge of the physiological processes we experience can help inform our practice.
As a supervisor I will work with you in the most appropriate methods for your own practice. Supervision is such a vital part of our counselling journey that I always want my supervisees to leave a session feeling enriched and supported.
