About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed? Maybe experiencing heart palpitations or panic attacks? Are you either having trouble getting to sleep, or waking at 2/3/4am over-thinking, then struggling to get back to sleep?
You may be finding you are struggling to get out of bed and get on with the day. A lot of your thinking is negative, your relationships may not be as you want them to be and you may be struggling with low mood, or to enjoy your life.
Working with me, you can reduce your anxiety to normal pre-performance nerves, improve your sleep so that you feel rested and refreshed when you wake up in the morning. Feel confident that any anger or frustration is under control and move out of depression/low mood into a positive, hopeful frame of mind. Find out what YOU really want and need to feel better.
I am passionate about helping people re-connect with themselves and make permanent, transformative changes to their anxiety and stress levels.
I do this by helping people gain new insights which they did not previously have. This involves recognising any triggers and patterns that are currently out of awareness, thinking about where they come from, reframing, creating new responses, and patterns of behaviour. So that you feel calmer, more in control, understand what you want to do about the issues you are facing and feel ready to take action.
I am both an accredited coach and an accredited counsellor. I'm EMDR (trauma therapy) trained, with 10 years experience helping people make lasting changes to their mental and emotional wellbeing.
I am warm, welcoming, friendly and well-qualified. I offer open-ended counselling tailored to suit you. Please feel free to contact me to book a free 20 minute introductory call at hello@katherinecrook.com to find out more about counselling with me.
Practice description
I work from my comfortable home-office, either on line, or in person. I am based in Seaford, just off town on the seafront.
I have a black Labrador called Loki. Those who like dogs really enjoy his greeting and having him next to them in his bed. If you do not like dogs; he does not come into the room with us.
There are several steps to go up to get into the counselling room.
The ethos of my practice is helping people make permanent change for the better that does not reverse itself.
This means that we will establish what your goal is for therapy, for example, feel calmer, stop over-thinking, tackle stressful work/home issues. Handling angry outbursts/arguments, or difficult colleagues/parents, feeling more like yourself again.
Whatever your goal and the issues you are facing, I recognise that everyone is unique. When you are with me, I will give you my full support and attention. I will provide a safe confidential space for you to express yourself. I work in a caring and respectful way, whilst also challenging you in a supportive way with different ways of thinking, suggestions and new ideas.
I will absolutely not tell you how to live your life. I work with an agreement between us about what you want to get out of your counselling. The purpose of counselling is to provide caring support, greater understanding of you and the issues you are facing and ultimately transformational change towards whatever you decide you want in your life.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or to book a 20 minute call about counselling by filling out the form on this page - just to the left - I look forward to hearing from you :D
My first session
First we book a free 20 minute phone call to answer any questions you may have and talk about what counselling with me is like.
In the first session, there is some paperwork to fill out and I take a history, this helps us both get really clear on what you are facing, right now, where you have come from and clarity on what your goal for counselling will be and how we will work together on it.
Most people leave feeling better for having taken the first step and feel more hopeful about their future.
