About me and my therapy practice
I offer counselling, psychotherapy and EMDR therapy for adult clients. I specialise in working with psychological trauma including PTSD, complex PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder. I also see people who are experiencing depression, anxiety, medically unexplained symptoms, relationship issues, work-related issues, and stress and personal crisis. I have experience in working with people who have ADD/ADHD and those who are on the autistic spectrum. My approach to client work is relational, holistic, and trauma-aware. EMDR therapy can be included when appropriate. All my work is grounded in the core conditions of the person-centred paradigm - unconditional positive regard for the client, empathy, and therapist congruence.
My qualifications include a post-graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy from the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London. This is a transpersonal and integrative training. I have an MA in Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies from the University of Essex, an MSc in Psychological Trauma from the University of Chester, and a Post-graduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of Leicester. I completed an EMDR-Europe accredited EMDR training in 2017 and became an EMDR Europe accredited practitioner in 2021.
Practice description
Prior to the covid pandemic I had been based in London for many years, seeing clients for face-to-face therapy in W2 and SW1. In March 2020 I re-established my practice online and now offer online counselling, psychotherapy and EMDR therapy to clients based in London, the rest of the UK and internationally. I see people using Zoom and a specialist EMDR video platform called Bilateral Base. I also offer therapy by telephone, live chat and email.
The flexibility that online therapy offers means clients with irregular work schedules and those who travel frequently are able to fit therapy into their lives. Similarly, online therapy is wonderful for people who might find it difficult to attend face-to-face sessions or who might want to see someone outside of their local area.
I offer the traditional weekly sessions, but a greater frequency may be possible for clients who need more support or are looking for a more intensive therapy over a shorter time. In addition, more clients are now opting for fortnightly sessions. Therapy may be short term, longer term or open-ended.
Clients may be privately funded but I’m also recognised as a provider by AXA, Vitality Health, Nuffield Health, and Aviva. It is often possible to arrange therapy funded through other insurance companies as well.
My first session
You are invited to contact me via email, phone, SMS or WhatsApp, or via the contact form on my website. I try to reply to all messages within 24 hours. I would then invite you to make an appointment when I can phone you to discuss what you are looking for from therapy and to answer any questions you may have. This phone call is free of charge. Sometimes a new client feels ready to start therapy soon afterwards or they may prefer to take time to reflect and get back to me later. In the first therapy sessions we continue the conversation we started on the phone, bringing more context to the client’s background and the issues to be worked on. We develop a structure or a plan for the therapy which we keep under review and update as necessary. Therapy is a collaborative and dynamic experience where we work together to address your concerns.
