About me and my therapy practice

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ

Bringing many years of experience as a therapist within the nhs, I am an accredited counsellor running a private practice.

I offer treatment for symptoms of depression, anxiety and all areas of difficulties that affect emotional health and wellbeing.

No matter what fears, feelings or concerns you are wanting to address I aim to help you build on the positive experience of being accepted and understood. A strong therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is at the heart of any good therapy, this will encourage you to feel you are in a better position to help yourself.

My original training was in Person Centred Counselling and this remains at the heart of my work. I am shaped by both life experience and professional practice. I am flexible in my approach and work with brief, solution focused therapies and also longer term counselling. I am experienced at working with issues stemming from the many faces of abuse, relationships, family conflict, difficulty in dealing with others, as well as adjustments and loss. I have never lost the joy of being able to explore, together, a way forward and to help others find a new sense of self and direction. Once established this can start to help you feel less stuck, less trapped by the past or fearful and worried for the future.

My experience includes several years of working in Health and Social Care, Substance Misuse and the diverse range of problems associated with this for both family members, partners and those affected by addictions. Although unable to offer private sessions to anybody actively involved with substance misuse or alcohol problems, I am happy to offer counselling to those who are stable and in recovery from addictions. I am also able to offer support to family members or partners who are wanting to find a better way to cope and gain a more clear understanding of how to help themselves rather than getting lost in just helping others.

I offer an initial 20-30 minute telephone or face to face meeting which will help us both decide if therapy with myself is right for you. There will be no charge for this.

Throughout my counselling I incorporate a Mindful approach and I embrace regular Mindfulness practice as part of my own life.
