About me and my therapy practice
I believe that the relationship between me and my client is very important and that you feel comfortable with me. I integrate different ways of working that will best help you to gain a greater understanding of yourself. This will enable you to make choices and changes towards a more fulfilling and satisfying life. I am committed to my own continuing professional development so that I am able to offer you the most helpful therapeutic experience that I can.
Practice description
I am a person centred therapist and over the years in my practice I have grown and developed and I can offer you a safe space where you can explore and learn to become more interested in you - in your patterns of thinking, patterns of feelings and patterns of behaving. I would encourage you to start to notice, without judgement, your response to situations, to people and to yourself. Often we are highly judgemental and critical of ourselves - this is not helpful to our mental/emotional/physical wellbeing. We have often 'learnt' these patterns that at one time in our life may have been very helpful for us to cope, however, it might be that they no longer serve us well. Together we can explore how you have come to think, feel and behave the way you do, and how this leaves you feeling. Through 'self-inquiry' you will start to form a different relationship with yourself and learn to cultivate compassion and kindness towards yourself that so often is sadly missed. You will learn to 'listen' to your mind/body and come to know yourself more intimately, towards self acceptance. Each person with whom I meet and work with is unique. Therefore through learning and understanding together, you will discover what might be helpful for you allowing a process to naturally unfold.
My first session
I will meet with you at an agreed time, usually face to face, but I can offer you on-line sessions via Zoom or Facetime. Your first session will be an opportunity for you to meet me and to get a sense of whether you feel you would like to work with me. You can bring what you feel you would like to share in this opening session, and ask any questions that you might have about the therapeutic process. By the end of the first session, you will probably know if you feel you would like to continue sessions with me and together we can agree the best way forward for you. Or, I will understand if you would prefer to go away and consider whether this feels 'right' for you and let me know in your own time.
