About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome.

I work towards creating a comfortable, safe and confidential environment where you can voice your concerns, problems and thoughts involving your own experiences and personal difficulties.

The environment I provide is warm and offers reassurance. It is important you feel comfortable enough to share your private thoughts and feelings.

To encourage a positive rapport, and the building of trust, I offer my full, undivided attention, understanding and empathy, and good listening skills.

My approach to the therapeutic relationship stems from a creative person centred approach, integrating cognitive strategies and techniques. The roots of this approach are in humanism that attaches high importance to human kind and human values. I believe all individuals have their own internal resources for growth in order to find their own healing pathway towards reconsideration and adjustment.

Throughout my therapy career of twenty years plus I have met with a huge diversity of adults. My counselling qualificatons and experience are relevant to working with adults from eighteen onwards.

There is no such thing as a typical day in my week.

About me and my therapy practice

My approach to consultative supervision stems from the a creative person centred approach with influences from cognitive based strategies and techniques.  My heart is within humanistic that attaches high importance to human kind and human values.  I believe all supervisees have their own internal resources for growth in order to find their own learning pathway.  The hub of the person centred supervision focuses on the relationship between the supervisee  and the client's frame of reference. Supervision requires my full presence and immediacy.   I focus on working with the supervisees immediate reflective thoughts and feelings working at the supervisees pace and timing.  The core conditions of empathy, congruence and non-judgmental regard are a necessary requirement in facilitating relational depth.  My belief is when these faciliatative conditions are present they are: a motivating force for change, nourish and strengthen the supervisees self actualising tendency and facilitating the supervisees trust of their internal focus of evaluation.

The offering and facilitation of offering creative methods is underpinned by the Diploma in Creative Methods with the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy.

The offering and facilitation of offering cognitive based strategies and techniques is underpinned by on line Certificate and Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy working seven plus years within IAPT services.

The offering of time limited work/brief therapy  is supported by Counselling Skills in Work Place Settings with Others with Oasis School of Human Relations.  I have worked  with employment assistance programme as an self employed counsellor for the last twenty years plus.

I work with qualified therapists and allied professionals.   I have additional qualifications of Certificate in Social Work and a Diploma in Connexions.

I have worked with many presenting issues over the years no one day is the same.
