Availability
I am based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Currently, I am available for counselling sessions on Monday and Tuesday - including evenings. I have some availability on Saturdays also.
About me and my therapy practice
We all need a balance between thinking and feeling. If we’re not in touch with how we feel, it can be difficult to know how to move forward in life. And if we can’t think straight about our situations, it can be equally difficult to orientate ourselves in the world. Counselling is a way of finding some balance from which to face the challenges of life.
I work predominantly with Children and Young People of Secondary School age, and with adults. I seek to provide a non-judgmental listening space and to appreciate your experience of life and your perspective; allowing you to ‘arrive’ before thinking about how you might ‘move on’.
Practice description
I use a variety of methods to facilitate self-expression; from humanistic counselling to play therapy. Central to this process is the therapeutic relationship.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are at the same day and time each week. They take place in specialist counselling rooms in St Albans. Sessions can be block booked or booked individually. But payment must be received at least 48 hours in advance to secure the room.
Prior to offering the service, an initial assessment would need to be completed. This would involve speaking to you over the phone initially, to see if this would be an appropriate service for you. And then conducting a more formal assessment ,either in person or by phone or virtually – which would be charged at the rate of a standard counselling session.
My first session
We should have already met and thought about what is going on for you or your child during the assessment process. With the first session, I would allow the client (whether yourself or your child) to begin to explore their experience; either through listening techniques - or through creative expression.
