About me and my therapy practice
I have worked as a qualified counsellor since 2002 with adults and young people in various settings: a GP surgery, a charity, a low-cost clinic, primary and secondary schools, and in private practice. Prior to my counselling training I worked in the fields of mental health, homelessness, drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
I currently work in private practice and a secondary school, and offer long and short-term individual work with adults and young people. I also work with children and parents together. I offer face-to-face counselling as well as online work for those who are 16 and over.
My central approach is psychodynamic, although I would also describe my way of working as integrative, offering a creative, safe and confidential space for clients to explore their past, present and future. I am led by the client - the issues they would like to bring and what they hope to achieve in the counselling. I give time and attention to what takes place in the room, in the here and now. It is a collaborative space, my stance being strongly relational, valuing the importance of relationships and our experience of these throughout our lives.
Adults and young people I have worked with have faced a range of difficulties and life challenges. These have included: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, family separation, loss and trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, long-term physical or mental health issues, addiction and self-harm.
My practice room is located in central Lewes, 5 minutes walk from the train station and bus routes and 2 minutes from a public car park.

My first session
An initial consultation lasts up to one hour, during which you can tell me a little about yourself and ask any questions you may have. This meeting will also give us the chance to get to know each other a little, in the room, and the potential for working together. If you would prefer to have a telephone chat prior to this meeting, this can be helpful too.
If you are a parent looking for therapeutic support for a younger child, we could have an initial phone chat to think about whether I might be able to help.
