I work from 10am until 10pm Monday - Friday.

I am an integratively trained counsellor with over 20 years of experience.

I am 60+ years of age so I have a depth of experience of life to add to my formal training & have many years of additional trainings that I have taken throughout my tenure as a private practitioner.

I work out of an office in Hove but work online too & specialise in addiction related issues but this is not my exclusive area of treatment. 

I combine a mindful approach with a psychodynamic one, which works with the dynamics of the unconscious meeting the conscious & the conflicts & compromises that are created around this point of contact. Impartial observation using healthy dissociative methods can bring about acceptance of one鈥檚 approaches towards self & others  in a transformative way.

I am a follower of Bruce Ecker鈥檚 Emotional Memory Reconsolidation approach which pioneers a new way to work with 鈥渆motional learnings鈥� in a psychotherapeutic way that rewrites learnt memories to radically alter long entrenched behaviours emanating from underlying beliefs or 鈥淪chema鈥檚鈥�. It is a permanent change brought about by an experiential understanding of an emotional learning that no longer applies. This applies to anxieties, depression & other psychological functionings as much as to addictive behaviours; addictions are dysfunctional ways to get our needs met based on old emotional learnings, often erroneous, laid down in memory via previous experiencing.

My rates are very reasonable at 拢80 per counselling hour (50mins, longer sessions are avail on request & subject to availability ) & 拢90 for couples therapy sessions.

I use an integrative approach, which means I use different approaches rather than one.

My approach uses psychodynamic, person-centred, hypnotherapeutic, IFS - Internal Family Systems, or 鈥減arts鈥� therapy, guided imagery, all with a Compassion Focused underpinning.

The first session affords you the opportunity to check in with me & my way of working. It is so important that the counsellor/client 鈥渇it鈥� is a good one; relationship is hugely important in the therapeutic encounter & not everyone 鈥渃onnects鈥� in the same way, so this session is about our first moment of meeting, no pressure, no expectation, just an opportunity to be in the same space together to get a sense of our process & each other as a collaboration.
