About me and my therapy practice
I am a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Registered and Accredited Counsellor with over 22 years’ experience counselling both adults and young people. I am also a qualified and experienced Life Coach, Supervisor and Trainer.
My counselling approach respects that people are unique with diverse experiences, feelings and beliefs. To take account of these differences my approach draws on a range of theories to find a way of working that is right for you. Central to my approach is the quality of the therapeutic relationship, as it is the strength of this working relationship that determines the success of counselling. My experience has shown me that people are more likely to get to the root of their difficulties if they trust that they are in safe hands and feel accepted for who they are. I am not here to judge you or to tell you how to think, feel or live your life. I believe that you are the expert on yourself and your life but that sometimes, we can all find ourselves in periods of distress perhaps feeling unable to think clearly or connect to who we are or where we are going.
I work to facilitate you in making sense of your thoughts and feelings, to gain clarity on your situation and feel better about yourself which can enable you to live a more fulfilling life. The process of being heard without judgement can be an immensely healing process, leading to increased self-belief and acceptance. Past life experiences may also have had an impact on you and how you see yourself and your relationships today. The counselling process provides a safe place to explore significant life events and/or relationships which can help you to make sense of them and find ways to move forwards. I work with a wide range of issues and concerns.
I offer both short and long-term counselling. I have practice rooms close to Ripon.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced supervisor offering supervision to trainee, qualified and experienced counsellors/psychotherapists in individual and group supervision.
I am a humanistic-integrative supervisor whose style incorporates a range of supervision and counselling/psychotherapy models and approaches. I place great value in the quality of the supervisory relationship and so I aim to provide a supportive environment in supervision, a collaborative relationship and a safe, reflective space so that supervisee's feel able to explore both personal and professional development issues that are relevant to their client work. I adapt my approach in order to meet the individual needs of the supervisee, their developmental stage and the context of their practice.
I am a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ accredited counsellor and have a wide range of experience over 22 years, counselling diverse client groups and issues and in a variety of organisational settings such as schools, colleges & universities; staff counselling in the workplace; the voluntary sector; private practice and in GP surgeries within the NHS. I believe that the diversity of my experience brings both a creative and educational element to my supervision practice.
I attained a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Supervision in 2007 and conducted research into supervision as part of an MA in Psychological Therapies 2010. I also co-authored 'Getting the Most from Supervision: a guide for counsellors and psychotherapists' (2013). I previously worked as a Senior Lecturer at York St John University for 13 years where I was the Programme Director for the Postgraduate Certificate in Counsellor Supervision.
