About me and my therapy practice

You may have difficulties at work or in a relationship or you may feel overwhelmed by powerful emotions or anxieties. Perhaps you feel that life itself has become a struggle or that the world itself has become a frightening place.

Talking with a qualified and experienced therapist can help you to understand your problems and find ways of resolving them. It can also help you to change destructive patterns of behaviour and to discover more creative and fulfilling ways of living.  At the heart of this work is a trusting relationship between therapist and client.

In addition to general private practice work, I work with survivors of domestic and sexual violence or abuse;  both those experiencing current problems and people who have suffered traumatic experiences in the past.  Please call me or send me an e-mail for a confidential discussion if you have been affected by any of these issues and would like some help.

I also welcome enquiries from those affected by identity-based trauma eg from the LGBTQ communities and those affected due to race or ethnicity.

I work with adults of all ages and from all walks of life. I can offer open-ended or time-limited counselling or psychotherapy. I offer a free 30 minute consultation.

My practice is based in N19,  walking distance from Archway tube , Highgate Village (N6) and Crouch End (N8). For further information about me, please take a look at my web-site or better still, get in touch.

Practice description

The way I practice is not about my giving advice but rather thinking together with my client about the way forward which works best for them.  Our work is a dialogue; one in which you will do more of the talking and I will listen intently. However, I will be responsive, emphasising my commitment to the idea that therapy works through relationship.

I can offer online or ‘in person’ sessions.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute consultation in which you can outline the issue(s) you feel you would like help with. It is also for you to decide if I am the right person for you and for us to agree that we can work together.  This usually takes place in person or via video conference.

If we do agree to work together, I will then forward a contract which includes details of how to pay, holiday arrangements etc. Our first session will simply be a continuation of our initial meeting. There will be no formal assessment.

Availability

I have some availability for new supervisees from October 2024.

My working hours are Monday - Thursday 0900-6.30pm

I will be away from Tuesday 17th September to Tuesday 1st October. I will be responding to emails during this time.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced integrative therapist, working with clients since 2008 in the NHS, for third sector organisations and in private practice.

I will be completing a supervisor training this year (2024-5) and can offer supervision at a reduced rate to therapists and counsellors for the duration of the course.

My training as an integrative therapist means that I was introduced to different schools eg  Humanistic and Psychodynamic approaches. This means that I am comfortable working with therapists and counsellors who may also be integratively trained or  those who use one main approach.

My work as a therapist focuses on building a trusting relationship with my clients in the belief that this is one of the main drivers of positive change. As a supervisor, I work in a similar way, aiming to provide a safe and non-judgemental space for therapists and counsellors to bring their client work. A working relationship built on trust and open-ness allows my supervisees to speak freely about issues arising in their client work and my aim is to work collaboratively to support their practice.

Sessions will be for 60 minutes.

Practice description

My aim is to provide supervisees with a trusting relationship and comfortable space in which to explore their client work. I see this as a relationship of peers or fellow professionals; you may be newly qualified or a more experienced therapist, however, my idea is that we think together about your client work, with space to resolve difficulties in an atmosphere of curiosity rather than judgement.

In addition, I will take account of how your work is impacting on you and ensure that consideration is given to how life may be impacting on you and your practice. The hope is that this will help you to feel confident and grounded in your practice.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute consultation. If we then decide to work together, I will send a contract prior to the first session. If there are any issues arising regarding the contract, they can be discussed in the first session, prior to signing.

This session will also be for us to explore our expectations of each other. This will include practical matters but may also provide a space for expressing any hopes or anxieties about the future of our work.
