About me and my therapy practice
Being a person-centred therapist means that I value people's autonomy and believe that you are the expert on your experience. My job is to be clear with you, both about my expectations and my experience of you and what you are saying. I do this by offering acceptance to all parts of you, including parts that you might find difficult to accept, and communicating my understanding of what you are telling me.
My experience is that when people feel understood and accepted in this way, they are able to experience themselves more fully and to move and grow through problems that they were otherwise struggling with.
When this is new it is sometimes difficult to imagine how it might work in practice, so if you have any questions or would like to try an initial free session, feel free to get in touch.
Practice description
I offer person-centred therapy and supervision in the Southampton area. Therapy can be for individuals, couples or groups. I work in a comfortable and private cabin, which is a five minute dive from junctions 7 and 8 of the M27 and 15 minutes from Southampton city centre.
Generally we will talk about whatever you wish to bring to the session, but creative materials such as art and a sand tray are also available. Sometimes people find that using creative materials can help them express something they struggled to put into words. Sessions are led by you - there is no expectation for you to talk about anything unless you're ready to.
My first session
The initial session is free of charge and usually 30 minutes. At this session we will decide whether we are suitable to work together. This is important as you need to find a therapist that you can trust and work openly with, and I need to feel like I am the right fit for you.
We will also go through a prepared contract which you can add to, which will define the practicalities of how we intend to work together.

About me and my therapy practice
I'm an experienced person-centred therapist, supervisor and trainer to Bachelor's level. I have a person-centred approach to supervision and have experience supervising people who use many other approaches for therapy, coaching, and mentoring.
At our sessions we will discuss your practice and your relationships with your clients, and if there is anything that is stopping you from connecting with them.
In my experience a supportive supervisory relationship is central to good practice with clients. I will support you by hearing your experience of and hopes for your practice, being open with you about my perceptions and any concerns that I have, and facilitating or helping you to find solutions to any problems. I am flexible and am available to supervisees between sessions for support in urgent situations.
