Our member Jenny Oyston aims to make donation to charitable causes after winning 拢500 in an essay writing competition.

Jenny won the prize for her article on the theme of .

Now Jenny, who is counselling from her home in Lincolnshire during the pandemic, says she鈥檚 looking to use the prize money to support good causes.

Christmas present

鈥淭he prize also included a trophy with my name engraved on it,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t came through just before Christmas, it was a lovely Christmas present.

鈥淚鈥檓 now thinking of an appropriate charity, one around counselling, to donate to. I have one in mind which helps sex workers to find their way back into society.

鈥淚 also want to use it for a good cause once the pandemic allows us to get out and about a bit more. I'm keen on running support groups but none of this is currently possible.鈥

Jenny says she found it rewarding to research the essay for the competition, which was run by her insurers the Psychologists Protection Society.

Burnout

"The World Health Organisation didn鈥檛 recognise burnout until 2019," she said.

鈥淭hat suggests to me people haven鈥檛 got much awareness around the subject. The danger could be we鈥檒l be heading towards burnout without realising it. That was my starting point.

鈥淚t turned out to be a useful topic for the current circumstances with the pandemic. I did some reading and research around burnout, and then wellbeing and self-care, so it was a useful one to research anyway.鈥
