In the second of our features on older people鈥檚 experiences of therapy, we meet聽Sheila, who says she has become happier and more confident following counselling.
The 74-year-old聽had been in a low mood for around six months, making her feel that her life was 鈥渁lmost unbearable鈥.
Sheila turned to Lifelink after being advised to see a counsellor by her GP and further encouraged by the positive recommendation of a friend.
鈥淚n general, I am a much happier person,鈥 she tells us in an audio interview. 鈥淚 have got more confidence in myself.
鈥淚 just feel I should have done it sooner. I thought 鈥業 don鈥檛 need help, I don鈥檛 really want to get help鈥, but I bit the bullet and it is much better now.鈥
