Using a Q Methodology Approach to Explore and Prioritise Multicultural Counsellor Competencies
Hi there,
My name is Zara, and I am currently undertaking my MSc in Person-Centred Counselling at the University of Aberdeen. I am looking for individuals with any level of counselling experience to participate in my study.
My area of interest is multicultural counsellor competencies, and I intend to explore Sue et al.’s (1982) multicultural competency framework as part of my study. The study uses a Q-Methodology Approach to explore counsellors’ perspectives and prioritise multicultural counsellor competencies. My study has been given ethical approval by the Department of Mental Health and Wellbeing at the University of Aberdeen. Furthermore, a participant information sheet has also been attached which will allow you to gain a greater understanding of the study.
The study will take approximately 15 minutes of your time and will need to be completed on a computer. There are no right or wrong answers.
All you need to do is:
- Fill out some optional demographic details
- Read a set of statements
- Organise them into three categories
- Drag and drop the statements onto a grid based on your perceptions of importance
And that’s all!
This is a great opportunity to explore counsellor multicultural competence and contribute to research regarding a prominent and continuously evolving topic in the counselling profession.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at t01zp23@abdn.ac.uk
