How can the Ethical Framework help members make ethical decisions on International working?

3pm to 3.45pm

The Ethical Framework review began in 2023 and identified a number of data sources to evidence its findings. Some of the data sources have been in the form of queries to the ethics service and additionally the member survey. These sources have shown an increase in members working with clients outside the UK and with members working internationally. This increase can be seen since publication of the last Ethical Framework for the counselling professions (2018).

The aims of this session are to align with the evidence primarily from the ethics service on how members are working with clients outside the UK or working internationally. The session aims to provide some of the findings from the new Ethical Framework and to illustrate how ethical decision making could be used when working in these increasingly complex modes of working.

Effective safeguarding for therapists working in private practice: Identifying safeguarding concerns and how to respond confidently and effectively

3pm to 3.45pm

This session aims to provide therapists working in private practice with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to effectively identify and respond to safeguarding concerns. Safeguarding is a critical aspect of therapeutic work, ensuring that clients, particularly vulnerable individuals, are protected from harm, abuse, or neglect. Therapists in private practice may encounter complex safeguarding situations and often work without the direct support of larger organisational structures. This workshop aims to equip therapists with practical strategies, clear protocols, and the confidence to take appropriate action when safeguarding issues arise, emphasising that therapists are not alone in this responsibility. The workshop aims to empower therapists to create safer therapeutic environments while maintaining professional boundaries and ethical practice by fostering awareness, competence, and collaboration.

This presentation is available in person only.
